Classes Overview

*Classes are each $20 per class.

*All group and private classes are appropriate for ages 16+ and are one hour in duration (except for special workshop series course offerings). Special consideration may be given to those younger than age 16; please contact me to discuss via email or phone call/text.

*Please wear loose-fitting clothing that you can move freely in for every class. No mat is needed and bare feet or socks are recommended.

*All classes are open to the public and to any level of experience, even beginners. Classes are taught using the framework of the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System and Language in addition to my experience as a modern dancer, licensed massage therapist and lover of anatomy, physiology and kinesiology. I believe everyone should have access to the numerous benefits of movement and dance for overall well-being and have an outlet for expression.

Somatic Movement

Tuesdays 7pm-8pm
Upcoming dates:
June 3 - Rest of Summer and Fall classes will be posted shortly

In this class, we seek to deepen the mind-body connection and explore new, healthier ways of moving through gentle, slow and intentional explorations and somatic movement based exercises using the framework of Laban Movement Analysis, the Bartenieff Fundamentals and other Somatic Concepts. We explore and investigate bodily awareness while standing and on the floor, learn the Human Developmental Movement Patterns, and work towards gaining a greater sense of embodiment to relax the nervous system and fuse the inner and outer worlds of the mover.

Somatic Dance

Saturdays 11am-12pm

*This class is offered as a workshop every few months; stay tuned for upcoming dates.

This dynamic class is derived from Embodied Anatomy, Modern Dance, Laban Movement Analysis, the Bartenieff Fundamentals and additional Somatic Concepts. We begin with a basic warm up and gradually transition into more dynamic movement explorations, exercises and combinations. The focus of the class is to gain a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection while engaging in free flowing movement exercises that work with the body’s natural tendencies and exploring the space around it. No prior dance experience is necessary.
